MOD Steering protection

Hi there,

Can someone who has an ex servcies defender with their tubular steering protection fitted do me a wee favour and take a few pics of where it bolts on. I looks fairly straight forward but want to start trying to remove 'well seated' (slightly rusty) bolts I don't have to.

Having had a couple of Defenders with the origional Landrover steering protection bar, if your one is the same I would advise not bothering with it and obtain either a steel or aluminium plate steering protector,  one made from pipe that resembles exhaust tubing bends just as easy as the drag link it is supposed to protect!

If what you have is the thinwalled tube one dont bother, I am sure a discovery 1 guard should fit, two holes at front of chassis for jate rings,2 holes further back for panhard rod  bracket.

Thought I'd just chip in, too...  my ex electric board 110 had one of those tubular steering protectors fitted when I bought it - somebody had obviously driven into a rock with it, it had bent in half and hit the steering damper, which had then lost all of its oil - so they really don't seem to do what they're intended to do...
