Central Locking
« on: February 18, 2012, 04:09:13 PM »
Hi,

I have a 1992 RRC , the central locking works fine but every now and again when unlocking the doors the passenger door does not unlock,it will if I turn the key a few times locking and unlocking . I think something is needing oiled/greased so that it moves easier, can anyone tell me what areas I should oil ??  do I have to remove door cards ??

cheers

Donald.

Does the key turn easily, its just the central locking that's playing up?

Replace the electical solenoid in the door.

Discoveries also have a problem is when the lock doesn't pop up fully - and you need the key to turn the lock (or to pull the door lock tab): this requires a spring replaced inside the catch mechanism (4 hours, and a thruppence-haipny spring).... don't know if Range Rovers have the same problem.

again from memory    it is just lubrication that is needed at the lock mechanism    this does corode with no use  even sports suffer the same on tailgates  door cards of oil and wd 40 with a lot of paitaince

I had a similar problem or have as it's not fixed so will also try the lube advice. Thanks.
