265 75 16 on discovery 1
« on: December 28, 2011, 09:28:12 PM »
Hi, got a set of 265 75 16's for my disco 300 tdi. I had heard people say they would rub the radius arms on full lock but I was going to live with that for a while until I got spacers. So I fitted the wheel to the front alloy and then tried to fit it to the discovery and found the tyre hit the front ball joint. I was wondering if I fit the tyres to modular wheels if that will clear the front ball joints? I'm not to worried about the wheels rubbing the radius arms and I know there may be some slight bodywork chopping to be done but I can live with that! Thanks for any help in advance.
Cheers,          Dave

got this size on my disco 1 bfg muds,I have a 2"bodylift had to do a camel cut at rear and trim front bumper back abit, still catches on sill protecter abit but just needs cut back a wee bit,
mine are on moduler wheels 7x16 i didnt need to adjust steering stops but its easy enough to do if you need to do it,

also had a set of 285 75 16 bfg muds on my last disco they needed a bit more chopping and lifting, but its best to stick them on and see what you need to do,also really depends what your gonna use it for...offroad or on road..

Tyres rubbing against the radius arms are very dangerous, hence the reason it's an instant MOT failure.

theres a bolt on the back of the front hub to adjust steering stop so it doesnt rub your radius arms, pretty simple to do think its either 17 or 19mm not too sure though.. ;)
