I think I've destroyed a small eastern European country

I was sitting in the 90 the other night and on my centre console is a pull out knob with an orange light on it. so i pulled it out the light came on but it didn't do anything in the landy so i fear i have wiped out some small country.

does anyone know what this might be, to put my mind to rest

Maybe it is or was once attached to a fan, light, death ray.....

Seriously, If some-one has previously been adding in extra bits of wiring and you've no idea what it is or why then I'd completely remove it. Less chance of random live cables, wierd earth problems etc. I ended up with major rewiring to repair the damage done where some previous owner wired up a radio and 4 humungeous driving lamps - a mass of fried wire behind the centre panel, damn lucky it never actually caught fire. His solution to the resulting "battery drain while parked" issue had been to fit a masterswitch rather than trace the leakage...  :(

genem your right think i'm just going to have to take the dash to bits and trace it out. :( being an electrician to trade i should manage, its just finding the time. if it is connected to a death ray or something of equal mass destruction i'm leaving it in  ;D

update i was sad to find my pull out knob with the yellow light isn't connected to a death ray  :( just a relay that wasn't connected to anything.

so i have put it to good use and i have used it to switch my new electric heater.  ;D
