alarm going of in middle of night on my 110 57plate defender

Has anybody any knowledge of the workings of central locking / alarm , sometimes the central locking will lock with key & alarm wo,nt go of , other times when locked with key all doors lock & open again straight away ? .

Dealer in Stirling has had it twice to fix problem & still cant fix it !.

locking and opening again    one of the locks is slow to lock or needing lubricated or adjusted     surprised that morrisons cant fix it

yep, most likely a solenoid or lock mech problem.

Thanks for your tips & advise

They have stripped the drivers lock but has not made one bit of difference , today the interior light came on by itself & stayed on while driving with switch in auto position , think i,ll have to stripp all doors myself & have a go with wd 40 & see if that helps ,

Had the same problem with my 90 turned out
to be the tailgate switch for the interior light shorting to earth causing the light to come on causing alarm to think door was open could be any of the door switches or a chaffed wire to one of the switches.hope this helps

I had a similar problem but it was the rear light where the fixing screw had worked loose and was switching the light on and the car would think a door had opened and sounded the alarm...
