Offroading in Arran??
« on: July 27, 2011, 10:30:58 PM »

As title says....does anyone know of any venues?  I'm going over on Sunday to collect the good lady and little un and fancied some fun before the last ferry home!
Quick look on the net comes up with nowt! I know ther is a few type1 laid forest tracks, but is that it?

Any suggestions appreciated.

No offroading available without the permission of the estates.

Great views all the same from the tarred road, allowing for how mobbed it is on a Sunday.

A must do is the road from Lamlash Bay across to Sliddery, 'The Ross'
leave Lamlash Bay at Monamore Bridge & climb up the really steep road through Monamore Glen.

have fun.

If anyone else is looking - fill the diesel tank first! It's probably about an extra 15p / L.

I know of quite a few good tracks, but they are all part of estate grounds or forestry commission.
As well as the Ross Road, the String & Bouguille road are pretty scenic. Watch out for Red Squirells, Red deer, otters seals, golden eagles etc.   Plenty of places for coffee & cake.
