Hey guys, was just having a look under the bonnet of my disco V8 and noticed the air intake is right at the front passenger side corner of the engine bay, obstructed by the light fittings and some electronics (no idea what they are, maybe the the diodes and such for the front spots).

I was just wondering would it maybe be worth doing some modification so that it draws air from somewhere a bit cleaner with better flow?

It gets bloody hot under the bonnet and im sure a good clean air flow would do it some good. Need all the MPG i can get with this thing!!

Anybody have any advice or done any modifications?

Yes it will help, the likes of a K&N with a cold air duct from behind the grill won't do any harm. To get any real MPG/BHP improvements, you will need more mechanical upgrades. Good tubular manifolds like Hedmans with a freer flowing exhaust system makes a big difference.

Im planning on taking it down to stu for a bit of rocket sled treatment at some point anyway so he will deal with the serious mechanical upgrades, was just trying to do something simple in the mean time!

Ill look into re routing it!

Thins are'nt so bad, had a look at getting my 3.5 disco on the road but the amount of work needing done on x mambers ect would have taken months or been very expensive. So i bought an M reg 3.9 disco! Its in really nice nick too, problem is now i need to decide what to do with the 3.5. Am thinking hill rally car!!
