im based near stonehaven and looking for a steel supplier of small (by industry standards) quantitys of steel - a few metres of 100mmx50mmx3mm box section and some 40x40x2mm so by no means the sort of stuff fabricators have around scrap !

Ive phoned a fair few places around aberdeen and keep getting no account/no business  not interested.

Anyone been successful in locating somewhere locally - (between dundee and dyce) that will deal with the public

failing this my new crossmember will be a bit of 5.5" N80 drill pipe ! - still last longer than those britpart tinfoil ones

Have you tried Scotsteel at Forfar? They build sheds so might have what you need.

Do you not have a small independant Blacksmith, Trailer Manufacturer Or Agricultural Engineering place  beside you that you can go to cash in hand
& buy some steel from?

Usually comes out cheaper retail than getting it wholesale if they have some lengths
sitting that they are happy to let go.

I found Brown & Tawse very good, although their supplied lengths are quite long, I ended up just taking them offsite to cut up before putting them in my land rover to take home.

if its any use I travel from Fife to Peterhead every day (tuesday to Saturday) stopping off at our Aberdeen branch (10 mins from Airport) on the way, should you need items from this end bringing up, give me a shout.
