Disco Diffs
« on: March 14, 2011, 05:29:52 PM »
Hi Folks.

Can anyone tell me if the diffs fitted to the later disco 1,s are all the same ratio, mine has (according to the book) a ratio of 3.54 to 1 fitted but the book does not list the ratio for the 300 tdi or the MPI?

or does anyone have a rear diff for a V8i going spare?

Drew.

Hi
I think the Discovery diff's are the same. I just fitted a front 300Tdi diff in the rear of mt RRC V8.
What diff are you looking for?
10 or 24 spline?  3 or 4 bolt drive flange?
I have a 24 spline 3 bolt flange one spare.

Cheers
Graeme

Thanks for the reply Graeme,

it will be a 24 spline, as for the 3 or 4 bolt I dont know, only had the disco about a month so dont know the difference between the 3 or 4 bolt.

cheers

Hi
If it's a 300 series Disco I think it will be a 3 bolt flange.
The easiest way to tell is have a look and see if you have a uj or rubber coupling at the diffend of your propshaft.
If it's a uj then that will be a 4 bolt flange
If it's the rubber coupling then it will be a 3 bolt flange.
The diff's are the same and you can change the flanges over to suit.

Cheers

Yeh its a later (1999) 300 disco 1 and it has a rubber drive flange on each prop.
The reason for the change is that the rear diff is leaking and is noisy when under load.
Where are you about and how much for the diff? im in Kelty, Fife.
Cheers.
