110 "B" post hinges
« on: March 04, 2011, 06:02:40 PM »
Hi

I needed to remove the bottom hinge of a 110 "B" post to remove some rust. After having a look and deciding there was no access, I assumed the plate with the nuts on it would be captive. It's not. It's now at the bottom of the "B" post >:( >:(.
Any ideas how to get it back in place ???.

cheers

Geoff

Hi on my 110 there is access from underneath to the back of the bolts its a bit tight if you have big hands so the plate should have just fell out when you undone the hinge , if it is the top hinge plate that has fallen down a piece of welding wire bent over and try hooking it out even a magnet taped to the end of the wire might help ,

cheers Iain

i sacrificed a small telescopic magnet and fed it down the hole behind the hinge, by putting a gentle sweeping bend in the telescopic part
