Series 3 intermediate shaft extraction -advice please
« on: February 25, 2011, 02:59:03 PM »
Just stripping a series2A gear box. I do not have a Rover Extractor part no. 605862 to do the job.

Is there another "trick method" to getting the shaft out or is there no option but to get my hands on an extractor ???? -if the latter, does anyone know of source for one and are they pricey?

Waiting in anticipation 8)

Thanks

Stephen

This discussion may help, no definative answer just a few "Have you tried this", "I did it this way" ...

BTW I hope the admins don't mind me posting a link to another forum.

Thanks Danny - got it sorted after checking out your link - basically tyre lever, tommy bar across the face of the casing where the support bearing housing sits to act as fulcrum and a big hammer - worked a treat  8)

cheers
