WANT Sankey wheelrim
« on: February 27, 2011, 03:13:52 PM »
I want to have a spare wheel and tyre to use on my Sankey trailer - does anyone have a spare rim they don't need?

To help you identify if it is the correct one, the rims on it are marked FV738903 and NAGB0L and the date 8/82. Unfortunately I don't know the actual size and off-set from that information. However, a Land Rover rim and tyre from that era fouls on the bodywork. They are fitted with 7.50x16 tyres. The trailer is a FV2411 Missile Supply - often called a Rapier trailer.

Any help or information appreciated.

Ah - so the wheels you took off are the ones I'm looking for then!  Have you still got them?

I wonder if 110 wheels with crossply tyres could clear the body?  It is all in the amount of offset. Maybe even 109" wheels - the one I tried was from a 88" as I recall.

Trailer is completely as it was in service, even original number plate. Unfortunately just the resupply model, not the maintenance one.

The canvas was not on the missile supply trailer, only on the maintenance variant.  Take a look at the front of the front cross member - is there anything in the square hole that is near the outside end?  That will determine it.

I have one only of the four equipment pods that went in the maintenance variant. Was going to fit a kitchen into it but never did. Canvas and sticks are much more useful.

Stuart - rim, or tyre?
The rims are, by the look of mine, standard short wheel base rims (almost no offset)
Tyres are a 205/16... as cross-ply'd as you can get

It's rims I need - tyres would be a bonus!

I have got a couple that I'm told will fit - however the rims on the Missile Supply trailer are apparently not standard wheels as used on the other Sankeys of that era as the offset of the inside edge is lesser.  The 7.50x16 tyres only just clear the trailer side so no chance with radials.  Must get one off and measure.

Stuart, I'd be surprised if the rims were not a standard LR rim... be they SWB or LWB rims.

Want me to throw one of each into the car for the weekend: I'll be over setting up the Comp on Saturday & you can have a look-see?
