Whats it worth.
« on: December 16, 2010, 07:38:49 PM »
Ok have a 1988 lr90 been told it is a stationwagen as it has back seats and windows. don't have the v5 so don't know.

Anyway was going to return it to its former glory but as the chassis is alot worse that i thought I don't have the facilitys to repair it. it has to go but I realy don't know what it is worth.

So any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks  Gary

Here goes.

1988 lr90 2.5 dt.  needs alot of work to the chassis probably best bet new chassis.  the bulkhead needs repaired both corners above the vents and the bottom. back door needs changed but trying to get a replacement. both door frames are rusted on the bottom corners .

the passengers wing is badly dented. and the engine aint going but will try and see how i get on when I fit a battery. But was told the engine stopped working and was parked up for 3 years.

I was going to fit a disco v8 then decided diesel would be better so was on the look out for a disco for conversion but  as the chassis is worse than I first seen then I can't have the body off as I haven't the space so am looking to sell it because I think it is to good to scrap .
Would be an excellent project for someone.

Will try and get some pictures of it because pictures are better what words,
Ok here are some rubbish pictures. will get better ones tommorow cause the garage was closed today.

This is tghe back door damage

Stick up a photo.

If the V5 is in order (not reported as scrapped or anything)
& ok with the DVLA to be registered once it has been re-chassised or even gets a newer engine
& had its MOT'd,
 it will have a value.
(more than scrap weight or breaking possibly)

www.richardschassis.co.uk
DVLA link at the foot of the page.

Some pictures will be a help thanks,
& where are you.??
I know someone that will be interested if there is enough sound bodywork.

I didn't get the v5 with the vehicle but it is easy enough applyed for. it is not scrapped.

again thanks for the info george and will try and get some pictures today.

I would love to repair it but lack of facility's means I can't. most of the bodywork seams good  quite straight wing is sore and the rear door is shot. but will take pictures of all the things that mite be wrong.

I should have put this on the original post The land rover is in oban on the west coast about 2 hours north west of glasgow and 2 hours south from inverness.
Thanks

Cheers for that.
Distance isnt a problem it will get trailered away.
& neither is condition of the body really.
(that will be reflected in any offer)
My mate is just looking for a 'Much Cheapness' vehicle to be able to rebuild with an alternative engine & body on a 'New' like for like 'Ninety' chassis.
It will be going on the road as unmodified chassis. suspension etc.
(A full & more expensive rebuild will be for further in the Future)

Important details are condition of Boxes & axles/drivetrain at the moment,
serial numbers matching the V5
& any parts not required now would be used to help offset costs.

Even if its not suitable for him/me,
Can you ease the Sale to who ever by applying for the V5 now which will cost you ?25,
or at least attempt to contact the DVLA (not Easy)

Check the vehicles status with the DVLA, to be sure that everything is OK.
Check it on an Online Registration check.
Last MOT held.etc.

Affraid even if suitable & a price agrreeable to you, i would require the paperwork before
collecting.
a V5 & a Reciept you got from previous Registered keeper etc.

I will PM you for a contact etc if I/we like the look of the pictures.
cheers.
george

EDIT PS, would just need to see the copies/pictrues of the paperwork,
we have the new chassis already, & its getting a modified Jimny body fitted which is ready to go on.

no problem the guy i got it off was a frriend of the family been on an island he had if for 5 years and he said the engine stopped working and he parked it up 3 years ago and has good intentions to fix but now has moved to the  so is surplus to requierments then I got it to fix but the chassis is worse than I could fix as it was a body off job and just don't have the facilitys to do it.

you are more than welcome to get in touch. I broke my camera today so borrowing my gf's dads but won't get it untill tomorrow night. so pictures on sunday.

I could try and get a hold off him but as he moved house I doupt he will have it lying around.

Thanks
