Disco 2 TD5 brakes
« on: November 21, 2010, 08:54:40 AM »
Hi

The brake pedal on my disco 2 has been a bit soft for a while now. I pulled new oil through all the calppers using a vacuum bleeder. The pedal is the same. When I looked in the reservoir, there was some black oil. It looks like the seals in the master cylinder are perishing.
Anyone come across this. Is it an easy fix. I've seen seal kits on e-bay.

cheers

Geoff

i hope it is not 'OIL' and is brake fluid that is black

vac bleeders some times do not work on abs cars as the flow is controled by the block and ecu
if the car is an man, then i can be the clutch master that is making the fluid black aswell

Hi Bobby

It is brake fluid i'm using ;D
The disco is automatic.
I'll give the old fashioned way a go.
Would you agree the only place the blackness can come from is the master cylinder seals.
Do you do a seal kit.

cheers
