I would be looking at the swivel bearings having a flat spot. Steering damper seizing? PAS pump worn?

If i jack the 90 up the steering is free enough to move by hand. Once the powering steering kicks in the steering goes side to side and you can feel it assisting you but its still heavy, however driving straight for any lenght of time it almost feels you have to force the power steering to kick in at that initial turn of the wheel.

thanks Bill

Disconnect the shaft from the steering colum to the steering box and make sure the uj isn't seized - quite common when you submerge it in mud and water for most of it's life like you do!  The symptoms sound like it is the uj

disconnect the drop arm ball joint with the motor jacked up , that will indicate if its in the collum /box or in the track rod ends/swivels. ive had a steering box do this but it was only tight in one direction

i had this ... then one day it locked solid - thankfully while parking.

it was the lower column bearing siezing.

it locked up when that bearing failed.

take the upper uj off the column and check the steering column.

sit down before checking the price of a replacement part - you cant buy jsut the bearing!
