TD5 wont start
« on: January 17, 2016, 12:13:38 PM »
Hi all,

Have a TD5 disco 2 which wont start despite trying alot of things, but all seams to point to the body control unit thing. can this be removed/ by passed or some electric box replacement? all steamed from a clutch replacement... or is it a Granade .. pull pin and walk away service repair system.  or can a retro fit a 300tdi in to it.

Has the crank sensor or sensor wiring been damaged upon removal/refit of the gearbox?

Any access to diagnostics?

Is it turning over but wont fire if so check the engine speed sensor wiring etc as mentioned in the last post, also worth trying to bump start it as i recently had a td5 that would crank over until the battery was dead but would fire within 3feet with a bump start. Checked engine speed reading when cranking speed was all over the place turns out the starter was faulty which was spiking the speed sensor.

Agree that bump starting seems to work - seen a couple that cranked for ever and wouldn't fire, but a tow round the block and they fired into life for ome reason
