Tub cappings
« on: November 03, 2014, 04:45:49 PM »
Hi need a little bit of knowledge please.
Iv got a new set of cappings for my 90 and iv read some posts and I'm pretty confident I can do this but someone said make sure you have everything you need before you start the job.

So apart from the obvious (tub cappings) what do I need to complete this job.
Also any trick or tips on doing this job would also be much appreciated

Thanks clem

are you removing the hardtop completely ? if so windscreen seal, pop rivets and some sikaflex
beware of wiring to interior lights and rear wash wipe if fitted and top seatbelt mounts

Wide prybar , a correct size drill bit to drill off the heads of rivets and for drilling new holes. Colour matched paint to seal up the new holes and the correct rivets

Needs a bit more force than you think to break the original sealent fit.

I suggest painting under the cappings , on many land rovers this area is poorly covered . I also suggest painting the new cappings good and propper inside - even if galvenised.
