What are the good and bad points of a Disco 3. Thinking of buying one.

For a full picture go to Disco3.co.uk.

Good points, very comfy, great engines, very, very good off road, great load carriers, great long distance travellers.

Bad points, can be expensive to run/maintain (as any car can be if you are unlucky), that is it after 6 years of D3 and 2 years of D4 ownership. My D3 was the longest I had ever kept any car.

For some reason, a lot of owners of other Landies have very negative views, listen to people that have owned one, there are a few of us on here.

i had a very low milage d3 full service history etc, biggest pile of crap i have ever owned, in less than 50k miles it had front suspension, flywheel, egr valves , stereo failed, rotten sump and the final straw was bits of bearing in the oil despite proper oil changes at half the intervals. and it was never offroaded or worked
oh and the fuel tank leaked

As Dave said, check out disco3.co.uk plenty of buying info on there.

I have had my disco for nearly 2 years and it one of the best cars I've owned. It has needed the usual wear and tear things but nothing to serious. I do use mine off road and is highly capable. Think I would only changekne for a disco 4 or a ff range rover.

Have had D3 for almost 2 years and will changed for a D4. Dont regret it at all, love it. Get one! Good points: comfort, space, performance on and off road, and it looks current. Bad points: none. Make sure you have warranty cover on breakdowns, even if its AA, they are reliable, but can be expensive to fix. 8)

H d mine nearly 7 years, as Dave says longest I've ever owned a car. Love it and would only go for something similar, D4 or RR!
