V8 not returning to tick over
« on: March 13, 2014, 09:11:46 PM »
Hi

I am looking for help. This rover v8 is seriously up setting me now. :'(  It has been a never ending story. I have had it ticking over and revving up fine. So I was thinking job done.

I run it up to normal temperature idling in drive way then drove down the street and then began revving at half to three quarter throttle. And doesn't return to normal.

Throttle leaver seams to be returning fine.

Parts to date first off my troubles all started with new luminition due to rubbish spark

Coil plugs leads . Gasket where the carb and inlet are.

Any  help would be grateful

Alistair

Twin SU/Strombergs I assume?

Have you cleaned and oiled the dashpots with 10/30 or 15/40 engine oil? Throttle spring attached? Mixture been set correctly? No split pipes or leaking gaskets?

Hi

It has a four barrel webber fitted. I had whole carb cleaned as it was doing this thing already and I thought it was sorted .

Think the gaskets should be ok . I have a few variables to check first. As I changed them through advice from rpi v8.

I will keep you posted

This old bus used to be reliable that's the most annoying part

Thanks for the reply
