Series steering

Yes, yes I know steering's vague at the best of time in a series motor...... But I have a nasty feeling the bearing from the top of the steering column have disappeared! Which I'm guessing (because I've not had it apart yet), means they've ended up in the steering box?..... Which may explain the random "heaviness" I've been getting in it. The track rod ends are all in good nick, and so is the relay.

Has anyone ever overhalled the steering box before? I see you can get kits, but is it a total pain?
