Disco 2 loss of power

Hi, every now and then my wife's disco 2 loses power. At the same time, maybe not always though, she's spotted the temp gauge going off the scale and then dropping off the bottom. Occasionally, the air con condenser fans run when the car has been stopped.
It's a 2004 model.
Is it haunted   :D

check inside intercooler hoses for delamination.

check ecu for oil contamination or if your in falkirk at all i can hook up diagnostics foc pm me if intrested
