Hi all. In-laws bought a d3 recently to tow their caravan. Has no tow var but has the socket for a removable one. I have looked online and seen two different kinds. Can anyone tell me what I need.

i have one for a sport. The permanent fixed one with the stays.

theres two as you say, one is removable with a key and is basically just the swan neck and ball. the other is heavy duty with stays to the chassis many refer to this as the horsebox towbar, it is adjustable in height with a couple of different holes
either will do just beware of removeable ones being worn

So the two piece one. Receiver and tow ball is the stronger of the two?

all disco threes have the receiver in the chassis, the removalble ball is just a cast swan neck that plugs in with a key.
the one with stays is the stronger one it also plugs into the chassis butthen has stays to the chassis like older discos.   for caravan use strength isnt an issue, adjustablity might be
