Steering Box

How do you know if your steering box is on the way out? Noticed a slightly funny feeling in the steering a few months ago when I was coming back to the straight position after turning and now my steering pump has started leaking (bit coincidental for my liking). My thinking is that something is going wrong in the steering box and crap in the oil has done the pulley seal in the pump and making it sound a bit crap on cold starts.... Anyone got any words of advice?

Hi Tom. I have had the Disco for 2 years and have never adjusted the steering box. It has 116k on the clock.

Hi just had the same problem with my steering, it felt like over/under steer more noticable at speed. I adjusted steering box but seemed to make steering stiffer but the problem was still there.holding steering shaft and rotating slightly back and forward you could feel the play. replaced with another steering box yesterday and all good again.cheers paddy.
