Root cause analysis shows Bill to be at fault for being daft enough to ask me in the first place

Ross I think the fact we were both new to this event was the root cause. Navigation and driving was second to none  One thing both of us have to do better this year whether we are driving or navigating. Or some people might be tempted to take the Mickey.
