Excess play in steering
« on: January 28, 2013, 10:21:34 AM »
Hi all

I have a lot of excess play in the steering of my S3... more than a handful... Any suggestions on where to start looking?

Get someone to move the steering wheel while you look at each component methodically one by one. Could be something as simple as a worn joint. On my 90 a regular problem was the drop arm coming loose - turned out it was the wrong one, different spline pattern to what it was supposed to be tightening into.
If its not broken you are not trying hard enough....
