Oil leak
« on: November 09, 2012, 11:23:23 AM »
I have the dreaded oil leak from the bell housing, rear crankshaft gasket I assume?

I have read that you can use silicone to seal the rear engine to the flywheel housing instead of the gasket, does this work?
the gasket was new when i fitted the engine some weeks back  :'( or should i just get a new one?

I know i should have changed the gasket then, but i thought that lady luck would shine on me, plus i like being out in the cold and wet ;D

Graeme i just used sealant no gasket on mine when i put it in as i was unsure of the engine as i made one out of alot of bits i had lying around and its been fine, But and isnt there always a but if your going to the hastle of taking the engine out you may as well do it properly.

cheers Bill
