Just recently jumped into unfamiliar territory. Having owned a mixture of defenders all 200 and 300 tdi's I've jumped ship and got a disco 2 td5. Had a look underneath and noticed two oil leaks from the axle swivel areas. It's nothing bad and appears to coming from behind the gators. Before I go taking things apart can anyone tell me where it's most likely to be coming from ie what seal etc and any problems im likely to encounter. At least then I can plan ahead and get the right bits beforehand .

Disco 2 doesn't have swivels there's cv joints in there so it's just new boots you should need provided its not bad enough to have damaged the joints,
If you are that far in tho check the wheel bearings I found mine both went around the 100k mark with the rears a year later

Ok thanks for that . I think it may just be the clips holding on the gaiters but we shall see.

It`s more than likely to be the oil seal in the axle casing where drive shaft enters the axle casing.

For the sake of a few quid I'll get the seals in any case . If the current ones are ok , ill keep the replacements for when the bearings need replaced .
