Any Freelander 2 owners??
« on: June 30, 2012, 09:28:33 PM »
Hi Guys,

Thinking of purchasing a Freelander 2, does anyone run one?  I'm just looking for a bit of advice on livivng with them everyday but also is there any advantages to getting the td4e instead of standard td4?  What trim level do you think is the best all round?

Any advice will be much appreciated!

Hi
Mine is an STD4E Sept 2009, I have had it for 2& a half years with no problems of consequence. Fuel consuption is around 37 mpg, performance is very good, @ 2000 rpm it is doing 70mph in 6th & will pull that up a steep hill no problem. I have towed a loaded car trailer from Glasgow to Inverness with no probs & around 26 mpg.  I have the 16 inch rims with 215x75x16 continental tyres fitted as standard which have given very good service despite the sometimes interesting snow falls we get up here (Inverness).
Overall a considerable improvement on the Freelander one I had previously which was a good vehicle to me & yes I would buy another one when I sell my two spare 110's.

Hi Robin.  We have a 2007 F2 TD4 XS auto and can't praise it highly enough.  Superb, smart, multi-purpose all round family tool.  Soon be 5 yrs old but reluctant to change it.  Bought as ex demonstrator at 3 months old from !?  :(, so serviced by Morrisons & Strathearn  ;).  Despite appearance is same size outside as original Disco but has lower roof.  Intelligent auto box is absolutely excellent, a delight to use, definitely the one to have particularly as no low range gears.  Could do with bigger boot & more odment stowage like Disco, although fine with seats down, rear load cover a bit of a problem to stow, not much room for 3 adults in rear.  Good performance on & off road, fantastic in snow, self corrects rare aquaplane quicker & better than I could, ground clearance ok for a baby Landy.  Tows well, std Continental tyres, 1/2 leather v comfortable on long run, thirstier in town, newer ones will be better but ours averages just over 30mpg overall (much same as our old discos did but very much nippier!), dual aircon is excellent too & bluetooth.  Try to get a 5th alloy wheel if you can, glass s/roof is quite nice tho' not essential, front & rear proximity sensors noisy but useful. Thanks for the replys, seems that land rover upped their game from the freelander 1.  It is a possible replacement for our A4 which isn't really big enough for 2 kids and all their lifes essentials.

It's looking like a good proposition at the moment, just can't quite justify running a D3 just yet!!
