Air Con specialists in Glasgow
« on: May 30, 2012, 10:16:24 PM »
Hello folks :)

Does anyone know of any air con specialists in and about the glasgow area? I need somewhere that can do a proper diagnosis instead of the usual regas and pressure test. I suspect the compressor on my *cough* Skoda *cough* has packed up but need the whole system checked. If there's anywhere you guys would recommend, let me know.

I'm away to spend the rest of the night looking at old landies on ebay, I don't ever remember a cooling problem that couldn't be fixed by opening the bulkhead vents :p

Thanks :)

Chris

Go to any Skoda/VW agent they will have the proper gear for checking the system.

Ahh, that's the option I'm trying to avoid as they stiff you something rotten in labour rates. I've had it through the diagnostics and it's likely component failure somewhere in the system, I'd rather give a good specialist the cash rather than the dealer :)

My L/R Disco 2 with climate control has a self check function which will tell me if there are any faults and what they are, check your owners hand book, it might tell you something.
Kwik Fit will do a recharge for £49. If there is a fault they will not charge you, I do not think they can tell you what or where  the fault is.

This is what I've done to date, managed to find the sequence for the self check and tried it... no faults showing. I've already had it regassed and it's not operating or showing any faults when plugged up to the proper diagnostic stuff. I just need to find someone who knows what they're looking for and can diagnose the problem (which I'm beginning to think is a leak somewhere) without charging main dealer rates for the trouble.

Sod it, driving with the windows down is the way ahead :)

Hi Chris, I used a company called "TRANSCOOL" in East Kilbride when I had a problem with my Disco aircon.

They do a lot of work for the major logistics companies and I found them very helpful.

only number I have  is     07989473123 or 01236874599  as they have a place in Gartcosh also.
This was back in 2009 and never had a problem since.
worth a try maybe
