Rust.  Remember that even the youngest Lightweight is almost 30 years old. Doors and footwells etc are buttons on ebay, chassis can be welded - but bulkhead vent panels are an arm & leg.

What engine is in it ? Has it been messed about with and what quality was the job ?  Mine has a galv chassis - great - but a home-made loom - very not great at all.

12v or 24v ? If the later then you've potentially got some very heavy duty wiring but expensive spares if it goes Kaput.

Good luck - I've not stopped smiling since I bought mine.

If it's the one Geoff is selling on here I had it for a while and it's a high spec ex competition car - nothing like a standard lightweight - it's bomb proof and you'd be hard pushed to break it

At 2 grand I wish mate it's a peach.
No this one is a lot less new chassis everything seems standard wheels apart.

Is it 12v or 24v ?  ( 2 Batteries between the seats = 24v Radio vehicle)

look at the bits that will cost you to put them right.
From experience, it you buy a landrover for £500, it will need more spent on it.

cheers

I looked at a lightweight for £1000 before I bought the one that I have. It will probably cost a lot more than that to fix what needs fixed. Buy the best you can afford, cos fixing it costs more.
