« on: April 29, 2012, 09:26:23 PM »
Need help on the following

1 temp gauge doesnt work so after investigating it there is no wire going to the sensor in the engine bay and the closest ones seem to be these which dont quite reach

2 when braking hard tge rear wheels lock up but fronts dont is there a bias adjustment for front and rear anywhere?

Thanks

Not sure about the temperature sensor.

With regards to the brake bias it is done through a brake bias valve (below the master cylinder fixed on the chassis, near the exhaust).  Have you converted the vehicle to disk brakes?  (if so... see my other post under the "splines" thread....) it may be of some use.

If it's an abs defender then brake bias is all done via the ABS controller...

the valve may be knackered or you have air in the system, but I've not come across this problem before so am just guessing.

Note, the valve only reduces the braking to the rear axle, if does nothing to the front axle (I think the valve because it is inclinded closes under hard braking (internals tip forward), thereby reducing rear braking, just a guess never taken one apart)

If its any use I have a spare "Rostyle " rim like yours, been refurbed nicely in white paint, if you need it for a spare ?

Its just taking up room here so yours for the collecting.

Haynes manual identifies the cable as a green cable with a blue stripe. In better light i will check mine again!!!
