4 wheel drive

new member 2811)) series 3 will go on 4 wheel drive in low  but wont in high ratio yellow button wont stay down. any thoughts on this

Hmmm... not come across that one before.

yellow leaver not coming back up, I've had.... but not not staying down :(

Is the selector rod connected to the lever underneath? you could be just missing a bolt. If it is connected also check that the pin that is pushed up out the top of the box is connected to the other end of the lever too.

You don't need to lift the floor out, you should be able to see it easily from underneath.

On the front of the gearbox, beside the bottom end of the red/yellow knobs, there is a "tin" cover over the end of the moving selector shafts for the hi/lo and 4wd.  Chances are its full of gunge and rust etc.  Remove the cover (I think its held by two small bolts) and make sure everything is free to move.  Lubricate all of the bits before replacing the cover. You can do this from underneath.
