What's the largest size of tyres can I fit on 16" rims on my Disco 2 without running into problem with rubbing wheel arches etc? Want to put some good chunky winter tyres on and save my 18" wheels for the better weather. Also how much difference will it make to my speedo? Obviously the larger the tyre the quicker you are travelling relative to your speedo but does it make much difference?

I've found landrover speedos to be so far out anyway I doubt it would make much difference.

This is for a Disco & not Disco 2, but gives you an idea of tyres sizes by markings,

http://www.members.shaw.ca/jbarge/tires/html
(dont know why link not working, google, jbarge shaw tires, should come up)

& an idea of percentage size difference, but as Ross says, probably end up more accurate reading.

Bob,

A set of AT2's is a good choice,
However, We had 2 disco 2's on road tyres last winter. The traction control will deal with most problems.
I ended up doing a fife circle to get people to work ;D

cheers

You will need to find someone with 'General Grabber AT 2' still in stock,
discontinued now for the new 'General Grabber AT'.

Possibly,

You could try www.4x4tyres.com

The site has an interactive stock list and can also confirm what tyres will fit without modification.

I've now bought 3 sets of wheels and tyres and can't complain one little bit.
