hi all my speedo cable snaped few weeks ago i got one and fitted it couple days ago the speedo needlie jumps about crazy when just moving of from parked and when at speed it not to bad it moves just a wee bit, it wasent like this b4 cable broke any help would be welcome ps it wasent a britpart cable so that should rule out faulty parts or then again 

sounds like its not correctly seated at either end or has too tight a bend in it somewhere

Mine did that at low speeds too. Unplugged it from the speed and stuck it back in again which seemed to help a bit.

The nature of these speedos seems to be that they wander a bit anyway

ok ill check that ive put the end in corectly at weekend as it was ok b4 i got ma hands on it

worn tip into the speedo or bearbox

sometimes when the cable breaks it sticks the nylon drive in box causing a flat spot which will result in the same symptoms

If you have fitted the new cable with to small a radius somewhere along its lenth then it will jump like you are describing, the inner cable catched on the outer causing the inner to get wound to a point that it  overcomes the friction between them then the lenth on the speedo end catches up causing the speedo to jump, its worse at low speeds.
If you dont fix it then you will get another chance to re route it shortly when it pops.
Or just use your satnav for MPH.

well ave had a look today and its in ok at gearbox end there no tight bends on cable route to dash so i checked that also and it also in ok ,im going to order geunie cable on monday from main dealer and try to see if thats fixes it i may get a fright at the price but if its the cable at fault it will cure it or ill waste more dosh    thanks for replys will let you now how i get on  dave

When mine broke I got a cheap Roadpilot gps camera detector from halfrauds. A nice big backlit accurate gps speedo and the added bonus of knowing where the fuzz like to hide on the back roads
