leaking axle seals?
« on: August 18, 2011, 04:08:16 PM »
Hopefully someone will be able to help me with an issue

I've notice recently that there's oil on the inside of the rear tyre on my 90. On closer inspection the brake disk is covered... So I assume it must be some sort of leak from the end of the.axle? How do I find out what is leaking?

Also I suspect it is on range rover axles, are there any differences that I can look for?

Thanks in advance!

hi
Just had the same problem, was the oil seals.
Easy to do Gemm had all the parts in stock, took about an hour  to do.

Might be worth doing the wheel bearings if your down that far.

Cheers

Excellent, do you still have the part numbers needed?  I'm going to be doing it myself in the drive

If you were going to do the bearings as well, its worth trying your local unipart, I got wheele bearing kits from them that included all gaskets and seals, sure it was around ?17 + VAT
