Bright Chrome Plating.
« on: May 09, 2011, 09:41:06 AM »
Hi Folks,

Does anybody know anywhere in Scotland that will re-chrome bumpers. Tried one company in Arbroath but they've stopped doing it.
Everywhere I've found seems to be darn sarf, and have quoted between ?200 - ?400 per bumper!

Any help much appreciated.
Mikey.

I used to use Arbroath because they were handy,
But before they even stopped doing it i got a recommendation from someone that liked a top quality finish, for 'Ashford Chroming'.
 Great service & finish.;)
Obviously not in Scotland, but that never bothered me,
not used them for a couple of years now, as have not needed anything chromed.

I take it that the bumpers cant be bought anyplace,in perfect condition,
for less than the price of the chroming will cost on the ones you have?

Chrome bumpers were a rare fitment on Classics, they were on one of the Aniversary models only IIRC.

True,
However, the (very wealthy) man who bought it from the dealer in 1993 wanted the best he could get, so he ticked all the 'extras' boxes available, with the chrome bumpers and Overfinch style alloys. He also had the non-standard cream leather interior fitted at a cost of ?3000 extra!

I've recently started on the refurb. Back out into the sun to remove my exhaust manifolds now.

Cheers,
Mikey.
