Freelander knocking sound
« on: January 28, 2011, 07:00:30 PM »
Well, finally got round to lying under the Freebie today to investigate the knocking from the drive train. Only one appartent fault found, the VCU bearings are shot, one has no rubber bushing left and the other is 'loose'
I have tried the VCU test, the one where one rear wheel is jacked up and an attemp to turn the wheel by a large power bar on the hub nut was made, very, VERY, difficult to turn so I think the VCU is shot too.
So, a recon VCU and new bearings are to be bought and fitted ASAP........ Recon VCU with new bearings, ?295 from evil bay complete with 12 month warranty, not too bad me thinks.
