Power steering woes
« on: January 26, 2011, 01:12:53 PM »
Hi all, another headscratcher, but I'm confident someone can help with the answer..

Defender 300tdi 90 heavy steering and noisy pump this morning. Looked under bonnet and the reservoir is pumping out fluid, backpressuring if you like.?

Topped it up, checked hoses OK. A bit of play on pulley, nowt major. Tried it again round and round, working but noisy. Opened the bonnet again, fluid pouring out of wee hole in cap of reservoir again.!

It's one thing after another with this thing......help!

Thankyouplease

Michael.

Try a fresh bleed of the system see if that helps after that its replacing the pump or steering box. Sounds like your pump though and its straight forward to replace.

Scott,

Pump started leaking today which made a bit more sense to the whole thing. Stripped down, removed pump and the bearing has collapsed. New one ordered.

Cheers
