Remember that the inaugural meeting of Strathclyde 4x4 Response is to be held this Wednesday 2nd February at 7:00pm at Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Headquarters, Bothwell Road, HAMILTON, ML3 0EA.
Many people have heard about this through various forums, and I?d like to thank the forum administrators for helping to publicise the formation of the group, and also the individual forum members who have copied the information onto further forums. We have been able to send additional information to those folk who contacted our e-mail address, but everyone is welcome to attend the meeting on Wednesday; and to bring along with them anyone else who is interested in the aims of the new group. In fact, you don?t even need to have a 4x4 vehicle.
There will be four speakers who together will build up a brief picture of how our new response group will work with the emergency services, and they should be able to answer any of the questions that you may have.
?How Emergency Response is Organised Nationally?
Stewart Borthwick - Regional Resilience Advisor - Strathclyde Emergencies Co-ordination Group
?The Volunteer Contribution?
Peter McCarthy - Operations Director, British Red Cross - West Central & South West Scotland
?Local Implementation?
Kenny Wratten - Health, Safety and Contingency Planning Unit - South Lanarkshire Council
?How the NATIONAL 4x4 RESPONSE works?
Simon Bentley ? Chairman National 4x4 Response - Yorkshire & Lincolnshire 4x4 Response
After a short break we will have the formal part of the meeting where the group will actually be formed. The speakers start at 7:00pm but if you will not be able to arrive until after that time seats will be available close to the door.
There is ample parking in front of the buildings on both sides of the site, and additional spaces by following the internal road round to the left. The doors leading to the Goodwillie Room are to the right of the main building, beneath a large SFR sign, but are not visible from the main road. Please remember that part of this site is a busy operational Fire Station.
Thanks are due to Strathclyde Fire and Rescue and especially Fire Officer Ian Clark for hosting this meeting.
Regards, Stuart
