Money no object, BF Goodrich.  They will last 100k miles and probably perish before they loose their tread!  Perfect road manners.  All other A/T patterns are now based on these (for a reason).  Rubbish in thick mud though (all A/T tyres are!)

Kumho are another option - KL71's I think.
Cooper's (Discoverer ST I think) are a close tie for 2nd place.

General Grabber AT2's in third place.  I have these on the Sprinter!

Lastly something like Maxxis/Insa or other remoulds if on a budget.  They are all much of a muchness at the budget end.

I have two goodyear wranglers AT/R  235x85x16 with about 8mm on them, no damage to the tyres never punctured ?70 I am based in Greenock.

I have just fitted Khumo KL71's which are better in the mud and snow but they do give a wee bit more road noise especially on wet roads.

I have been running on a set of Insa Turbo Ranger 235/85's for the last 2 years.

On the whole I think they are great, I tow a lot with big trailers and they work fine, snow no problem and off road they will take you most places. On some of the West Argyll runs I have got through sections that people with Mud Tyres have failed, would highly recommend them!

Best of all having bought cheaper tyres I have now got a second set of wheels and tyres with Special Tracks fitted, they are something else off road but I don't fancy trying to stop a 3 ton trailer on a wet road with them!

I'm running a 110csw on BFG A/T's (235/85/R16) and havn't been stuck at all in the snow of the last couple of weeks. I had them fitted in July 2005 and they're still like new, having done about 45k miles. They were about ?110 each, fitted at ATS in Perth and worth every penny.
