I love woodwork but can i make landy bling?.
« on: November 09, 2010, 11:51:33 AM »
 :)
Ok so latly me and a freind been doing oor logging duties and getting the firewood sorted for the coming winter. We often get nice sheets of bark coming off and i had a wee idea. Use bark make the oval badge and burn the landy sign into the bark? similar to those nice silver and black yins ya can buy online.
Figured out id have to do the work whilst the bark fresh then simply keep it in a press for a few months to dry and cure straight and level. Wee lick of clear varnish and hang on the back of the landy. What ya think look utter s*** or bit classy?. Anyone done similar.

Sounds funky, just an observation, but as it dries it`ll become very brittle wont it? But it might work, if it does let me know!

Yea very true.
Now thinking a slice of hardwood ur right the bark will become far to brittle. Seen it on a VW camper the owner made the whole front badge cut of of wood and burned etc. Looked really nice very rustic. His VW was off cream white so stood out very well. Blended in perfectly with his vintage rust  :).

Put it this way, if it fails you can always use it for the fire :D :D

Yeah, a slice of hardwood cut on the angle will work
