Brake Callipers
« on: October 22, 2010, 05:04:39 PM »
Just changed my brake pads & notice pistons worse for wear. A couple of dust seals missing. I haven't managed to find any destructions to a overhaul procedure. Plenty of chat saying what a b**** it is but eveyone succeeded.  Is this a worth while challenge or should I dig deeper in a pocket and get new callipers? Or does anyone know who sells recon?
Any advice appreciated.  ???

Not such a bad job but no gaurantee that all will be good. Pistons and bores would need to be checked for scoring through dirt ingress.  Check with Eurocarparts  for a Budweg recon caliper. They are main agents and can get you them.

Drive for a bit more while you save the pennys?

I had a sticky piston on the 90 and although I took it to bits coaated it in the copper grease etc it was never perfect. If you are hanging onto the white "camper van" I would get new ones all obviously IMHO

Hi
Im in the process of sorting calipers aswell and had the same pondering question fix or buy new. In the end i worked it out at costing up to ?25 per caliper to rebuild with OE parts. So i decided to go for the britpart calipers ?56 each. I have them fitted on my 110 and dont have any issues with them. Got these fitted at lamacha last febuary done 8k since. Pleased for such a cheap part.
