Everyone is invited to meet at 10.30am at the Myreton Motor Museum, we should have enough time to have a good look around and then head off to the National Mining Museum for tour at 2.30pm.
Myreton Motor Museum, Aberlady, East Lothian, EH32 0PZ.
Directions:- from the west, go eastwards round the Edinburgh bypass, A720, and turn south on the A1. Turn off at the Bankton exit, signposted North Berwick and "Longniddry avoiding low bridge" taking the right-hand lane signed for North Berwick, and going straight over the first roundabout. At the next roundabout turn right onto the A198, then at the eastern end of Longniddry go straight on at the roundabout beside the railway station onto the B1377. Go straight on for just under a mile after the next (Ballencrieff) roundabout then turn left onto an unclassified road keeping an eye out for the museum signs. The road goes under a narrow railway bridge, and the museum is on the left after a mile. The entry charge is £6 less concessions, there is a Portaloo but no cafe. It opens at 10.30.
The National Mining Museum is on the A7 at the Lady Victoria Colliery, Newtongrange, EH22 4QN, and to get there from Myreton, backtrack along the A1 either to the Sherrifhall roundabout to pick up the A7, or go through Dalkeith to the Eskbank roundabout then taking the second exit which will take you down to the A7. There is a tour of the museum starting at 2.30 which is worth doing. Entry is £7.50 less concessions, (under 12's free) and there is a café and toilets. It opens at 10 am.
It would be handy to get an indication of numbers so that both museums can be forewarned.
