Network coverage
« on: December 25, 2015, 09:44:48 AM »
Hello everybody,

for a trip though the the high lands and low lands I'd like to buy a UK sim card for my I-Phon.
I'd like to use my I-Phons as a hot spot and use my laptop for internet search for B&Bs and so on.

I'm wondering which network provider delivers the best network coverage.

Are there any helpful advices?

Thanks a lot and have a nice Christmas time.

Cheers Peter

Couldn't tell you the best network provider but I can tell you to avoid Three from personal experience!

I've used a few and I find Three to be the best, hotspot is free as well and if you go abroad you can use your plan in a lot of countries

There are various coverage maps available on the Internet but they are all over optimistic. I use O2 and do not really have much of a problem but girlfriend uses three and has to use my hotspot most of the time, and it is on BT (which is really Orange). So I suggest you just take a few different network SIMS and badger yout MP as to why we do not have network roaming in UK.

A very useful free service from O2 is the O2Go which give SMS messages and voice calls over wifi when there is no 'phone coverage.
