WANTED Alternator for 2.25 Diesel
« on: July 02, 2014, 01:55:21 PM »
Anyone got/recommend an Alternator that would fit into Series 3 2.25 Diesel, my one seems to have given up the ghost.

Alternatively (geddit??) anyone got instructions for reconditioning one?
We all know that small cars are good for us. But so is cod liver oil. And jogging.

Forth Auto Electrics
Block 3 Elgin Works, Elgin Street, Dunfermline, Fife, KY12 7SH
Tel:  01383 736994

From experience they are quick and well priced, recomended for reconditioning alternators, starters etc.

Lucas LRA100 most likely. You should be able to get a new one for around £50.

Just be careful - there's a "left handed" and "right handed" version, the difference being the configuration of the mountings. Each can be converted to the other simply by taking out the through-bolts and rotating the end-plate, but you don't really want to do that with a brand new unit. Also, some come without the fan and pulley - I'd get one with them fitted for preference as pulleys do wear out and in any case they can be a bit of a pig to remove from the old unit.

Examples on the bay:-
