td5 mainshaft change

how easy/hard is it to change the mainshaft in a td5 380 gearbox
for a 300 tdi mainshaft

i was under the impression td5 uses r380 as well?

Pretty much the same box but the td5 is a beefed up version.

SO CAN I PUT IT STRAIGHT ON TO A 300 TDI ENGINE
WJTH NO ALTERATIONS EXCEPT WIREING ????

I haven't tried tbh. Anything is possible I suppose. I think you have to move some studs on the bellhousing.

I changed mine for another td6 one buy I remember reading somewhere they were similar. Can't.you source a td5 unit? I think I paid £340 for the box and transfer box. dalcrue in Perth.

i alredy have the td5 and transfere thought it would just bolt on but its not the case i see now

so best thing for me to do is get a box to fit the 300 tdi i think and sell the
td5 box

where on the thread does it say he has a defender box ? however I didn't know you couldn't use a defender td5 on a disco td5 so every days a school day I suppose

well so far he has only refered to it as a TD5 box, Plus the vast majority of his posts are refering to defender parts & problems, thus i think he has a defender

yes box is from a td5 defender
was hoping to fit to disco engine to fit my new project
1997 110 van on a 2011 td5 galvy chassis
 mounts  been welded for 300 tdi engine
and 380 box with long bellhousing
