Wanted urgently - defender front hub
« on: December 29, 2013, 02:07:28 PM »
I have an urgent need for a front hub for a 300 tdi defender. I was very kindly donated one, but just as everything was going so well, it turned out to be the wrong hub, i'm assuming from a discovery, as the stub shaft that it came off was 15mm longer than mine and hence the bearings sat wider apart and left no room for the hub nuts. Looking at it, I was lucky to get home intact after the boxing day bash, I am down to two intact bolts on the drive flange!!!!!

So does anyone have a hub, closer to Glasgow the better.

Dave,

If it is just the threads that have gone that hold the drive flange on you could oversize the holes and tap out to the next size up if there is enough metal, I did this on a series hub in the past and never had any issues with it. Or you could use a Helicoil kit to repair the threads.

Cheers

Sorted now thanks for a tenner, I had never realised that there were two sizes, about 15mm difference in length on the stub axle so wrong size and you cant get the hub nuts on, bit confusing at first!!!!! .  :)
