Novice question
What is the best  engine oil for 1996 Defender td5 ?
Manual suggests  SAE 5W/40 or 5W50, have looked online and suggestions vary to include 5W/30.
General use & it’s not too cold here on Islay so and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 1980 SWB Series 3 Hardtop 2286 petrol which I'm not going to get time to do, I bought it during lockdown as a project but never got round to doing anything with it.  Have the V5 in my name. It's had a galv chassis at some point in it's life which is solid but does have some surface rust towards the back end. It'll start if you give it a bit of petrol down the carb, the bulkhead is well rotten but may be salvageable. Front end was stripped off by previous owner with a view to repairing bulkhead but ill health halted his plans & a lack of time & 2 other L/R's has halted mine! Looking for £1500 but would take sensible offers,  it's in Dumbarton.

88” QT Comp Safari  / CCV Rolling Chassis and Roll Cage for sale based on a shortened D1 chassis.  I purchased this a year or so ago planning to do a build but plans have changed and I’m looking to free up the space.

Comes with lots of bits and pieces including, 2 axles including diffs, D1 steering column, steering box, D1 pedal box, multiple prop shafts and half shafts, plus loads of other bits as a base to work from.
