Post by: ruaritreble on September 27, 2010, 01:32:56 PM
I had booked my holidayto include the GRR 14th Nov. Seeing as this is now the 21st, I have some spare time.

Travelling from Ayr.

Make your way to Galston, Hurlford.

Pick up the A71 for Strathaven.

About 2 miles or so past Louden Hill, Louden tavern, Sand Quarry you will come to the entrance to the Village of Drumclog on the RHS.

Turn down here and follow all the way to the unmarked cross roads.  Go straight through and as you come to house on RHS, take road to the left and the entrance to the 4x4 land is directly ahead.

10am would be a good time to start.

For those who do start then, a pause in activities at 11am would be appropriate - perhaps a group gathering on the top of the hill?

Like Bill I may also be a passenger if someone has a spare seat as the jeep has no mot. That said I'll probably trundle round in the surf but avoid the serious bit's like the woods and that way SWMBO may be happy!

OK guys looks like a good crew for tomorrow.

As it stands landie is still in bits, looks like a landie but no brakes or clutch so its a no go im afraid.

So i have cadged a lift with doug. Can anyone spare a seat for my son as we have been going hammer and tong to get the old bus ready with the promise i would take him.

I will bring the wifes car to the site so its only a spare seat for the site we would need.

Sorry to leave it so late but we genuinly thought the car would be sorted.

If a seat is available could you let me now as i dont want to take him and cant get a seat

Thanks in advance Bill

It was touch and go today, but I've got the lightweight ready to trailer down in the morning.  It's only got two seats though and the passenger one's taken.  I'm sure someone should be able to help out.

20 mins at the jet wash, lots of newspapers in the footwells! It looked clean when I arrived home lol Still kicking myself for not looking where I was going but the real bummer is my flask has spilt on the video camera and all my footage is now lost. Cameras knackered :(
Really enjoyed myself though and at least I made it further than the gate this time!

All the best

Ross

Well

I'm chuffed to say new lightweight stood up to the punishment.  Thought it was going to get drowned at one point in the river and it took some punishment in the woods.

Pity the same can't be said about me - am aching all over, and have hurt my arm/shoulder when the steering spun out on a rock.  Also the lights packed in on the Defender, knocking the trailer lightgs out - so had to do a bit of swift re-wiring on the hardshoulder of the M74 just past Hamilton Services at 5 o clock (not the best experience).

Excellent site though and enjoyed every minute of it

Duncan

Didn't get round to editing photo's, too knackerd. Left the lights on last night so landy batt is flat and staying brown for another day.
Got some videos which needed doctoring before youtube. River driver great fun but camera woman not terribly stable.
