Hello. I’m stripping a 2 1/4 petrol 3 bearing and I need to get the pully bolt/starter dog off. I have a good impact wrench and need to get ahold of a socket. My vernier says 42.6mm, so I guess a 43mm socket would do the trick? Could anybody recommend an imperial or metic size that will make a neat job. At around £20 for this size I’d be grateful of a recommendation.
Thanks.

It's usually a 1" whitworth. If you're in Glasgow you can borrow my 1"Whitworth slogging spanner. Cheers Nathan

Thank you for reply. Still getting to grips with AF and Whitworth. Engine is out and head off so I think impact driver is my only way forward, socket needs to be deep to reach over the dog. I am in Glasgow on south side. Am I right in thinking it’s a reverse thread? Logic being you have to crank it clockwise to start.

All the ones I've done have been the normal righty tighty lefty loosey thread.

Yeah, just realised my mistake - it must be normal thread - if it was reverse you’d undo it with the crank handle!
